The ‘Water Revolution’ Hong Kong – lino cut print

Well, this is a departure from my normal images that I create! It’s evolved from my love of the work of the Grosvenor School of Art, especially the work of Ethel Spowers and after seeing their recent exhibition I was even more inspired.

I saw the ‘Water revolution’ in Hong Kong as an opportunity to use her ‘umbrella‘ topic and transfer it to the current day – the Hong Kong protesters always walked with umbrellas and predominantly yellow ones.

Probably back to flowers and landscapes next week – although I have a few more ideas germinating so ‘bear with’!!

Glimpses of Italy VII

This is from my Glimpses of Italy range. They are pastel images created on mount board.

New work has been delivered to Bevere Gallery, Worcester this week and I held my first monochrome printing/stamp making workshop on Saturday – some brilliant results were achieved. Below is a reminder of my upcoming workshops:

• Mon 23 Sept 10 – 12.30 – An introduction to printing with lino through monochrome printing/stamp making. Venue Bevere Gallery
• Sat 19 October 10 – 4 – Full day workshop creating a 2 colour edition print from lino. Venue Bevere Gallery
• Sat 30 Nov 10 – 12.30 and 1.15 – 3.45. Either a morning or afternoon session to ‘Get ready for Christmas’ Make cards, wrapping paper, gift bags with your own print.  – Venue Bevere Gallery.

Beautiful Tenby – linocut print

Work in progress! See it finished over Worcestershire Open Studios weekend.

I’m loving this print and since I photographed this stage, I have added two more colours so, just two more to go!!

If you’d like to see the finished piece then my studio is open on Saturday 24 – Monday 26 August inclusive; 10.30 – 5.30 each day (Do note that some of the other artists taking part may also be open on the Friday 23). You will be able to see how my work is made and even have a go! I will also be launching my workshop dates and have introduced some new ones – monochrome printing and water-colours and/or stamp making.
